At-Risk Employees
Employees with a reasonably anticipated risk of exposure to blood or OPIM as a result of required occupational tasks are required by law to complete training annually. Register for the Bloodborne Pathogen learning track in Ability LMS. Work with your supervisor to determine the procedure for completing training. Some departments have trainers within their department; some departments take online training. Site-specific training must also be completed with your supervisor each year.
Site-Specific Training
Other Personnel (not "At-Risk")
Some personnel who do not fall into the "at-risk" cateogry above are required by their department/college to complete awareness training. Site-specific training is not required.

Inspections
Biological safety staff from EHS will periodically inspect departments that are working with or may come in contact with human blood or other potentially infectious materials to ensure that regulatory compliance needs are met and to identify areas where further assistance is needed. Inspections will be scheduled in advance and will include inspection of the worksite for items such as proper use of the equipment and signage as well as an audit of departmental procedures and training documents.
