Safety Data Sheets

Safety Data Sheets (SDS) can be accessed at MSU's SDS provider's website MSDS Online (https:ehs.com/).

  • How do I login to the SDS provider's website?
    • Click on the LOGIN link
      • If prompted to choose a solution, select Chemical Management
    • Enter user name: EHS@MSU.EDU
    • Enter password: @Safety1855
    • Click the Log In button.
  • How do I search for a SDS?
    • After logging in, click on menu button and choose the first item in the list – MSDSonline Search.
    • In the search field, start entering the name, manufacturer, or other identifier for the desired SDS.
    • Select the category for how to search.  You can choose all categories, product name, or manufacturer.
    • When the list appears, scroll down to the SDS you want and on the green document tab in the left column.
    • The SDS you've selected will be displayed.
  • How do I update the SDS eBinder for my location?
    • When the search results list appears, scroll down to the SDS you want and click in the box in the left column.  If you've accidentally selected an SDS, click on the selection box again to unselect it.
    • You may choose as many SDS to add as you like from that screen.
    • To add the selected safety data sheets, click on the “Add to eBinder” button on the upper right.
    • A screen will pop up asking which binder to put it in. Start typing the location name and choose from the list it brings up.
    • Once you've selected the desired ebinder location name, click on Submit.
  • How do I view the SDS in an eBinder?
    • To view SDS in your eBinder, click on the Menu button and then click on the second choice – eBinder.
    • You can search for a location by clicking in the All locations field above the SDS search field.
    • A Filter By Location window will pop up so you can search for the location you want.
    • Choose your location and click apply.
    • All the SDS assigned to that location will be visible.
  • How does ChemInventory connect with SDS?
    • SDSs can be uploaded into ChemInventory on a material page.

  • Who can I contact if I have any SDS questions?
    • If you need an SDS from outside the MSDS Online library, please contact EHS at EHS@msu.edu - specify which SDS is needed.
    • When the SDS(s) is/are not in the MSDS Online library, you need to keep a local SDS book for them.
