Radiation Safety
EHS is responsible for implementing the University’s radiation safety program as defined by the Radiation Safety Committee, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Broad Scope license, and applicable state and federal regulations.
-
Radioactive Materials Registration
Researchers wishing to work with radioactive material must complete and submit the radioisotope approval application form in CLICK. Approval is determined by MSU's Radiation Safety Committee. See Radiation Safety Manual 2.3 (PDF) for committee description.
-
X-Ray Machine Registration
All x-ray machines need to be State registered. EHS manages the registrations but the department pays the fees. Some machines (medical, veterinary, accelerators) require shielding plan reviews to be approved by the State in advance. Contact EHS or the RSO to register machines. Contact EHS for dosimetry requirements for each machine.
