Zach Hansmann Leads 94th Annual Michigan Safety Conference as President
June 12, 2025 - Zach Hansmann
In April, Occupational Safety Officer Zach Hansmann proudly served as President of the 94th Annual Michigan Safety Conference, held in Lansing, MI. As the premier safety event in the state, the two-day conference drew over 2,300 attendees from across Michigan and beyond. Entirely volunteer-run, the event featured more than 120 educational sessions and hosted over 200 vendors, offering a dynamic platform for learning, networking, and innovation in the field of safety.
Zach’s journey with the conference began in 2011, when he started volunteering with the Construction Safety Division. Over the years, he has taken on numerous leadership roles, including Chair of the Arrangements Committee. In 2016, he joined the Board of Directors and was nominated to the Executive Committee in 2019—culminating in his role as this year’s President.
Each year, the President selects a theme to guide the conference. Zach chose “Find Your Safety”—a call to action encouraging attendees to reflect on what safety means to them personally and professionally. Whether it’s gaining knowledge, building a network, finding motivation, or connecting with a community of peers, the theme invited everyone to discover their own purpose within the safety profession.
Zach extends his heartfelt thanks to the EHS Occupational Safety Team, EHS Director Eisenbeis, and the many dedicated safety professionals from across campus who supported the conference and its mission.
