Updated Sharps Container Requirement

Michigan law has been updated to extend the sharps container storage limit from 90 days to 18 months. Sharps containers are now required to be permanently closed and have a waste pickup request placed:

  • If ¾ full, or
  • Within 18 months of first use

Updated sharps tags can be identified by a black border.
