DONATION REQUEST: Critical PPE Needs for Local and Regional Medical Sites

EHS, CAR (Campus Animal Resources), MSU Extension and others are coordinating a community-wide PPE donation effort from research labs and groups that have needed supplies for collection and distribution to our medical partners to protect them as they attend to their essential healthcare duties.

For questions and clarifications, the point person will be Brian Smith ( from EHS. 

Requests for UNOPENED and UNUSED gear and supplies include:

  • Hand sanitizer
  • PAPRs (powered air-purifying respirators)
  • Surgical/face mask
  • Nitrile gloves
  • N95 (respirator) masks
  • Face shields
  • Safety glasses
  • Disinfectant wipes and spray
  • Eyeglasses shields
  • Ethanol/rubbing alcohol
  • Disposable surgical gowns
  • Microbial culture swabs
  • Hand-sewn reusable masks
  • Bouffant caps

Additional requests include:

  • Used safety glasses and goggles
  • 3D-printed generated masks and ventilator parts

EHS, CAR, and Extension will work with the MSU Health Teams and Dr. Beauchamp (Executive VP for Health Sciences) and Dr. Weismantel (University Physician) to prioritize distribution of supplies.

Options for Contributing

MSU Researchers, MSU Staff: Donate and Track Supplies for Reimbursement

Please note, due to the initial overwhelmingly positive response, reimbursement is not guaranteed for items donated after 3/27/2020.

  1. Use the modified ‘Hazardous Waste Pickup’ form to enter what you have to donate:
  2. Complete the top items with your name, phone, PI, location, etc.
  3. For the donation portion enter the following:
  • Waste ID: 0000
  • Description: description of items being donated
  • Container Size - Units: select "box" or "case"
  • Number of Containers: number of containers

EHS and CAR will coordinate pickup of items (with appropriate distancing), as we have staff members working across research buildings (EL and GRRC), using our transportation vehicles to bring items to the 4000 Collins Rd Annex warehouse for distribution.

The IPF Setup crew is now accepting donations (pickup and drop off) at IPF Storage Building No. 1 from 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday.

Community Members (No Reimbursement)

Drop off items at the Extension Food Processing Innovation Center (FPIC), open to accept donations Monday-Sunday from 9:00am-6:00pm.
